Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer (ANFD)

Aquoun Engineers is well- known Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer (ANFD) Drying Manufacturers & Exporters in Mumbai, India. As such, The Nutsche Filter Dryer (ANFD) is a versatile and efficient solution. It is essential in pharmaceutical, chemicals, and food processing industries where accuracy & reliability are of utmost importance.

Nutsche filters/dryers provide great flexibility in the world of Ingredient processing. Generally used for recovery of solids, there are some that can produce the end product during processing (catalyst recovery example) or perform more steps in a process like extraction, etc. Modern Nutsche filter can perform multiple functions like filling/charging, filtering, displacement washing, reslurry washing if needed for particle size or form distributions that are inaccessible to filtration alone, smoothing which is interchangeable with the secondary drying step (e.g. turbo dryer) and drying / cooling prior discharging steps. This makes the combination of filtration and drying in one device particularly advantageous, especially for applications that involve active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) or dangerous chemical substances such as pesticides.

What is an ANFD (Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer)?

  • Agitated Nutsche Filter /Dryer is the multiduty equipment used for solid liquid separation under vacuum and pressure. It combines functions of filtration, washing, and drying inside a single equipment resulting in extremely efficient processes with reduced product hands on operations which decrease also risks of contamination.

Agitated Nutsche Filter Dryer (ANFD) working concept

  • The Nutsche filter dryer is a cylindrical vessel with filter plate at the bottom, as indicated in Fig 1.(Can you specify this figure, not put in the document) This plate sits on top of a filter cloth or other filtration media to separate solids from liquids.
  • The vessel into which the slurry (a combination of solid and liquid) is fed. The liquid (Filtrate) is pressurised or under vacuum in the vessel causing it to pass through filter media leaving particles on top of the filter media.
  • The filtrate flows through the filter medium and accumulates in a receiver on which the vessel stand, while only solid cake stays on top of it.

Cake Washing Phase:

  • After filtration is obtained, the solid cake can sometimes be impure and require further processing to purify it. The same tank is filled with washing liquid to wash the cake. The distillate flows through the cake which displaces mother liquor and dissolves or washes off impurities.
  • The washing fluid is crossed with subsequently collected filtrate below the filter media along with any dissolved impurities.

Drying Phase:

  • After washing the cake solids are still be wet and hold some residual moisture. The ANFD is provided with a Hydraulically actuated bottom cake discharge mechanism that aids in unloading the solid/semi-solid material from inside of the vessel and removes chances for choking. The agitator is valuable to help bust up the cake and make it into more surface than just a big flat area for drying.
  • Drying is mostly done under vacuum or heat, though sometimes both. Vessel can be heated by jacketed design or using internal heating element to evaporate the moisture contained in cake.
  • The agitator keeps the cake in constant motion resulting in even drying and preventing lumps or hotspots from forming. The moisture which has evaporated is extracted from the sytem by a vacuum pump.

Discharge Phase:

  • The dried product is then discharged from the vessel after drying. Agitator to remove the dry cake buildup from top of filter media.
  • The dried product is then harvested for additional processing or packing.

Specifications:

  • Easy operation & Sturdy construction
  • Jacketed / Limpet & Vacuum applicationv
  • Special design for high pressure & high temperature operations
  • Application: Pharma, Chemical, Food etc

Nutsche Filter Configuration:

  • The Nutsche Filter/Dryer is constructed from four essential components:
  • Vessel: The vessel body can also be jacketed for applications that require isothermal or temperature-controlled systems and enables a full accessibility for optimal heat transfer to the product, with one-piece or two-piece design in different bases. It can incorporate insulation (if desired), sheathing, main body flanges and pusher ports.
  • Drive Assembly: S-blade Agitator with Twin or Quad Columns, Bellows Gearbox Shaft Coupling Double Dry Mechanical Seal.
  • Discharge valve: built with fail-safe characteristics such as metal-to-metal sealing, pressure and hinge capabilities combined with monorail or hydraulic actuation providing automatic discharge of dry product, solvent, slurry etc.
  • Dust Filter: Chose a dust filter that can be mounted on top of the vessel and handle many different types of filter media. It is completely jacketed in insulating and protecting sheathing, which will trap all dust blowback away from your static eliminator thereby safely eliminating it. The invention further relates to a nitrogen accrual tank for desorption of bound components.

Industry Applications:

  • The Nutsche Filter/Dryer is constructed from four essential components:
  • It is with the adaptability that an Agitated Nutsche Filter/Dryer provides, due to which it has a longer use life in numerous applications across various industries such as;
  • Pharmaceuticals: for making Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) because of high control over purity and quality.
  • Chemicals: employed to manufacture specialty chemicals maintaining process conditions within a precise range.
  • Processing of foods: Facilitates the segregation and separation of foodstuffs in which they are quality proof physically well-separated.
